Google is known for its continuous updates be it regarding the algorithm of search or its appearance. Recently, this search giant has introduced a fresh look for mobile search results to match the look and feel of the devices they’re being viewed on.

The new display design includes rounded corners for search cards and boxes within search cards which definitely seem more appropriate for mobile search. All the latest smartphones with edge-to-edge displays have rounded corners, so to match the design, Google has introduced a look that compliments today’s screens.

In addition to the rounded corners, the blue links are also made brighter, which searchers may find more pleasing to the eye than the previous dark blue colour.

The local business search also has a colour change. The review stars on business listings have been changed from orange to yellow.

Beyond a few aesthetic changes, there do not seem to be any other significant changes in the search result displays.

Here are some of the key changes noticed in the latest update include the following:

  • Usually, you would see around 4 ads at the top of the page. The new changes have reduced the number of ads to just two.
  • The bottom of the search results page used to have 3 ads. This has been replaced with just one ad.
  • There is a rearrangement of URLs and titles within search cards (both paid and organic).
  • Aesthetic-coloured dots are included in organic search cards in the top right-hand corner.

However, the Related Searches section has not been tweaked by Google. With reduced ads, it is expected that advertisers will be able to get access to more attention without much competition – something that can help boost their ROI.
